Jamie Dornan, Jemima Kirke, Ben Mendelsohn Drama ‘Untogether’ Lands At Freestyle Digital

Exclusive: Byron Allen’s Freestyle Digital Media has picked up the North American distribution rights to Untogether, the Emma Forrest directorial debut film starring Jamie Dornan (50 Shades Of Grey), Jemima Kirke (HBO’s Girls), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One), Lola Kirke (Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle), and Billy Crystal (When Harry Met Sally). Jason Patric to Star in Drama ‘Bonded’ (Exclusive)

Jason Patric is set to star in the based on a true story, drama “Bonded,” from writer-director Mohit Ramchandani.The film follows a young Mexican teenager who is enslaved, beaten and forced to work in the squalor of a sweatshop with other illegal immigrants after being brought to the U.S. as part of a premier soccer camp. Patric (Sleepers, The Lost Boys) will play Officer Stevens, a police officer weathered by his own adversity and self-loathing and who doesn’t always play by the rules.

Bonded is based on true events around Los Angeles sweatshops. Jon Graham and Luke Daniels are producing.

Patric also stars in writer-director Omar Naim’s upcoming supernatural thriller Becoming, and he appeared as a legal officer for the U.S. Army opposite Alden Ehrenreich, Tye Sheridan, Jennifer Aniston and Toni Collette in Alexandre Moors’ Iraq War drama The Yellow Birds, which premiered in January at Sundance.

Patric’s other indie film credits include Burning at Both Ends, Expired, Your Friends & Neighbors, In the Valley of Elah and After Dark My Sweet.

FilmRise enters ‘The Vault’ for North America

FilmRise has acquired all North American rights from Content Media to Redwire Pictures’ supernatural heist thriller The Vault starring James Franco, Francesca Eastwood, Scott Haze and Taryn Manning.Dan Bush directed the film from an original screenplay he co-wrote with Conal Byrne. FilmRise plans to release the film theatrically in the US in the second quarter of 2017.

Redwire Pictures’ Luke Daniels and Content Media’s head of production Tom Butterfield served as producers alongside Tunnel Post’s Allen Pao.

The Vault is styled as The Town meets The Sixth Sense and centres on sisters who attempt to rob a bank, unaware it is no ordinary institution.

Ben Mendelsohn and Jamie Dornan Become ‘Untogether’

In today’s casting round-up, THR reports that Jamie Dornan, Ben Mendelsohn, and sisters Jemima and Lola Kirke will be teaming together for the indie drama Untogether, the directorial debut of best-selling author Emma Forrest. The film concerns Jemima Kirke’s former-teen-prodigy-turned-junkie Andrea, who has an affair with Nick (Dornan) while she’s clean and trying to be a writer. Nick is already a successful writer, regaling the world with stories of his war-time experiences. Lola Kirke plays Jemima’s younger sister, whose relationship with the older Mendelsohn is tested when she falls for a Rabbi with an even larger age gap than her and Mendelsohn. Forrest will pen the script as well, which is being produced by Luke Daniels, Scott Lastaiti, and Brandon K. Hogan.

Vmi Worldwide boards ‘Outlaws And Angels’

EXCLUSIVE: Luke Wilson, Chad Michael Murray, Francesca Eastwood, and Teri Polo star in the recent Sundance world premiere that Andre Relis is bringing to the EFM.

J T Mollner wrote and directed the Midnight selection that debut in Park City last month and follows a gang of outlaws that raid a frontier family home to hide out for the night.

Momentum Pictures will release the film theatrically later this year after securing rights in North America, Germany, and Latin America at the AFM in November.

Content just dropped us a line to let us know that they will be selling worldwide rights to The Signal co-director Dan Bush’s supernatural heist film The Trust at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival.Co-written by Bush and Conal Byrne (The Proxy), the film is produced by Culmination Productions’ Tom Butterfield and Redwire Pictures’ Luke Daniels. Content’s Jamie Carmichael serves as Executive Producer.

Pre-production is set to begin in April 2014. More as we get it!
